Description

While the 1934 standings were nothing to write home about for the Washington Senators, this slightly toned OAL (Harridge) ball has a couple of very special stories. Twenty-five members of that 7th place team signed the ball with grades ranging from "3-9" with the average about a "6". First, all but Cecil Travis are deceased; second, the ball features a "5-6" signature of former World War II spy, Moe Berg; third, Hall of Famer Joe Cronin (4-5") appears on the sweet spot, along with the Clown Prince of Baseball, Al Schacht; finally, and most notably, the signature of Mark Filley ("9") appears on the East panel. Filley appeared in just one game (April 19, 1934) in his Major League career. He pitched to three batters and retired one. How many team signed balls can exist with his signature? All in all, a very attractive baseball with several unique and noteworthy signatures. The ball comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA.
