On April 17, 1953 at Griffith Stadium in Washington, DC, Mickey Mantle belted what many consider to be the longest homerun in baseball history; an estimated 565 feet off Senator's pitcher Chuck Stobbs. This is just one of the hundreds of great moments from the old concrete and steel mammoth that once was home to players like Walter Johnson, Joe Cronin and Harmon Killebrew. Offered to the true fans of the game is this three piece section of original Griffith Stadium seats to add to the memory of a great franchise. The seats, joined together as one piece, are among the most difficult original ballpark seats in the hobby. A finite number of real Griffith Stadium floor-mounted seats exist and this grouping comes with a notarized LOA received the day of purchase. The freestanding unit is constructed of a cast iron foundation and the wooden slats are all original and in excellent working order. The original green glossy paint has been covered with a peach flat paint and can be fully restored to their previous glory. The three seats have an overall measurement of 57 inches in length and stand 30 inches tall. Maybe one of the devoted fans at the September 7, 1954 game against the Philadelphia Athletics that drew the smallest crowd in Griffith Stadium history with only 460, sat in one of these seats. Due to the size/weight of this lot, the cost of shipping may be substantial.
