Description

The Baltimore Orioles were still a fledgling team in their new city when the 1958 team signed this Official American League Harridge baseball. Manager Paul Richards signed on the sweet spot with Willie Miranda and the rest of the signatures encompass the side panels. The key signatures are Brooks Robinson 7, Hoyt Wilhelm 7, Milt Pappas 8 and Jim Busby (d.1996) 7. The signatures were written in blue pen and the ink from the pen has soaked into the cowhide and created a pink hue around each individual autograph. The ball is very clean and the condition is 9 while the signatures range from 6-8. Over all condition of this piece is 7. A complete listing of all the signatures on the ball is available on our website. COA from James Spence Authentications. The 1958 Baltimore Orioles signed team baseball has (26) signatures that include manager Paul Richards (SS, d. 1986), Willy Miranda (SS, d. 1996), catcher Gus Triandos, 1B Bob Boyd (d. 2004), 2B Bill Gardner, 3B Brooks Robinson, OF Al Pilarcik, OF Gene Woodling (d. 2001), OF Jim Busby (d. 1996), Joe Taylor, Jack Harshman, Billy Loes, Lou Sleater, Hoyt Wilhelm (d. 2002), Connie Johnson (d. 2004), Hal Brown, Joe Ginsberg, Ken Lehman, Milt Pappas, Charlie Beamon, Willie Tasby, Dick Williams, George Zuverink, and Al Vincent (coach, signed twice). There is one signature that was not identified and that makes the total (26) signatures. If not for the pink hue around each signature, this overall grade would soar, but in present presentation, it grades 7.
