Offered is an exceptionally difficult regional card of the “King of Swat”, Babe Ruth. Produced strictly in New England by Uncle Jacks Candy, Inc in 1933, this issue has become one of the toughest to track down in any condition. Babe Ruth is always in the foreground of any collection, even when he headlines a thirty-card set that includes twenty-three Hall of Famers. The card displays a vivid purple toned image of Ruth sitting in his Yankee pinstripes captioned Babe Ruth “King of Swat”. This fantastic and authentic find does have condition flaws starting with the overall size of the card. Production technology is the 1930s was not an exact science and this card is presented as a fine example as it is 1/16” and 3/16” shorter than specifications. The edges are sharp and clean with minimal wear on the still well defined corners and a slight smudge in the lower left of the card. The card is crease-free on heavy cardboard stock and projects wonderful eye-appeal. This is a true jewel for the Ruth collector or a fine attraction for any collection’s top shelf.
