Offered are three incredible sterling silver presentation plates given to George “Stuffy” Stirnweiss of the New York Yankees. During the Yankees four decades of dominance in the junior circuit, many players contributed to the team’s greatness; Stirnweiss was typical of this standard. Each plate is significant, two were bestowed to Stirnweiss at Yankees Old Timers games and the third was produced by the Tiffany Company of New York and given to Stuffy by his high school football team, Canterbury Prep. Each Yankee Old-Timers plate has the NY Yankees emblem in silver at the pinnacle of the upper rim and is inscribed with the team and date; the July 27, 1957 plate honored two new members of the Hall of Fame – Joe McCarthy and Sam Crawford and the August 9, 1958 plate was in commemoration of the 1947 World Series Championship. The Yankees plates measure 11” across and are in fabulous condition. The Tiffany plate is 9 ½” in diameter and is simply engraved “To George Stirnweiss from the Canterbury Football Team, 1945” and exhibits several scratches that do not detract from the relic's beauty. The total composition is over three pounds of sterling silver and immeasurable Yankees lure.
