Description

Meriwether Lewis Clark Jr. established the Kentucky Derby, which was first run on May 17 1875. A few months before the outbreak of the Civil War in 1861 and the first Battle of Bull Run, Maryland had the first run for the Woodlawn Vase what is now, 144 years later, the trophy for the Preakness Stakes. Hands down two of the most sought out after horseracing trophies offered in the sport. Offered here are (17) different Derby programs, including 1959 (85th), 1961 (87th), 1963 (89th), 1964, 1965, 1966, 1968, 1969, 1970, 1973 (99th, VG-EX), 1974 (100th), 1979, 1986 and (16) Preakness glasses, including 1975, 1977, (6) 1979, 1981, (2) 1983, 1986, 1988, (2) 1994 and 1995. The balance of the programs is VG-EX with many of the programs pages displaying notes on horse handicaps. Each one the glasses remain chip-free, crack-free and displays beautifully as a group.
