The 1929 Philadelphia Athletics are considered by some to be one of the most dominant teams of all-time. Over a five-year span, from 1928 to 1932, the Athletics pounded the American League averaging 101 wins a season enroute to three junior circuit championships and two World Series crowns - even the mighty Yankees could not equal the power of the A’s line-up. In the shadow of Ruth and Gehrig, the A’s consistently prevailed under the expert tutelage of Connie Mack. This team compiled an impressive 104-46 record in 1929, on their way to defeating the Chicago Cubs in the World Series, 4 games to one. Presented is one of the most complete Philadelphia Athletics’ autographed team balls from their 1929 World Series team. This extraordinary example features (25) signatures headlined by Hall of Famers Lefty Grove (“5”) and Mickey Cochrane (“4”) on the sweet spot along with Connie Mack (“9”), Jimmie Foxx (“7”), and Al Simmons (“9”). The balance of the signatures rate 6-8 and consist of all players with thirty or more at bats and the entire pitching staff of the monumental team. The ball is an awesome red-and-blue stitched OAL Barnard baseball in EX-MT condition. The ball comes with a vintage Double Header baseball box. For a complete list of the signatures and condition, please visit our website. COA from James Spence Authentication.

The complete list of the signatories is as follows: Lefty Grove (5), Mickey Cochrane (4), Connie Mack (9), Max Bishop (6), Rube Walberg (6), George “Mule” Haas (6), Eddie Rommel (6), Carroll “Lefty” Yerkes (6), Bill Shores (6), Joe Boley (7), Bevo LeBourveau (7), Cy Perkins (4), Jimmie Dykes (5), Sam Hale (5), Homer Summa (8), Howard Ehmke (8), Jack Quinn (7), George Earnshaw (9), Walter French (8), George Burns (8), Bing Miller (8), Ossie Orwoll (7), Jimmie Foxx (7), Al Simmons (9), and Jim Cronin (7). The ball is dated 8/1/29 and this can be found on two different spots on the piece. There are only eight players that played in 1929 for the Athletics that are not on this wonderful baseball, including Eddie Collins who was mainly a coach, but none of the players not included on this ball had more than 27 at bats.
