Description

Presented is a marvelous collection of early sports ephemera, photographs and postcards. The lot consists of twelve turn-of-the-century postcards, three snapshot photos of major leaguers, and nine full-size photographs of individual players and teams. The majority of the items are early baseball with a emphasis on Pacific Coast teams while two of the more interesting pieces are 11 x 4 team-issued Michigan Wolverine Football players from 1914 (All-American John Maulbetsh, Maurice Dunne). An abundance of team pictures include a fine 1900s basketball team (6x8), a 1940s Boston Braves photo with 20 players warming up, the 1942 San Antonio Missions (8x10), 1937 Scotia (8x10), and the 1938 Atles Lager Club (11x14).There are three vintage and original personal snapshots of MLB players, Whitey Ford, Eddie Mathews and John Logan all measuring approximately 4x5 along with 8x10 glossy photos of Warren Giles and a Cleveland Indians infielder. All pictures and postcards are in VG-EX condition or better with very little wear and minimal creasing. For a complete list of the individual postcards, please visit our website.

The (12) postcards include (2) football oriented items, an early Western Military Academy Football team postcard with schedule and results and a 1907 Gem City Business College Football team postcard. The balance of the postcards include all early 1900s cards, (1) Baseball Series-Two strikes, bases full, (1) 1908 Pendleton Pets player holding a bat, (2) Walla Walla Bears player postcards (Elmer Leonard, circa 1912-1914), (1) 1908 Walla Walla Walla Wallas team postcards, and (5) real photo postcards of the Millington Blues from Michigan.
