Presented is a fantastically colorful 1951 Topps Connie Mack’s All-Stars card of the consummate New York Yankee, Lou Gehrig. To mark the 50th anniversary as manager of the Philadelphia Athletics, Topps had the most conspicuous gentleman in the game, Connie Mack, chose his all-time team. Mack chose Gehrig at 1st base even over his own great first sacker from the 1930s, Jimmie Foxx. The beautiful card features a glorious photograph of the old first basemen set against a bright red background. The 1951 Mack All-Stars are most often seen without their hinged backgrounds as many children actually used the cards as pop-ups to display these icons. The card remains in solid EX condition with light corner wear and a stress crease near his left knee. The reverse is very clean and displays a short biography of Gehrig and instructions on how to fold the card to make it stand. The 5 ¼” x 2 1/16” card has been partially popped but has not been bent in any way and is an absolute amazing card and collectible.
