The slender seven-foot frame of Wilt Chamberlain was unassuming at first glance but his dynamic talents changed the game of basketball forever. He came from the rough streets of West Philadelphia and traveled to Kansas to play his college basketball and there he dominated the game. This rare and wonderful complete program from the 1957 NCAA Championship Game features a very young Wilt “the Stilt” Chamberlain. This beautiful piece of ephemera contains the Final Fours teams from this year and has the scorecard for the first game Kansas was to play and they defeated a tough San Francisco team. The finals that year pitted Chamberlain’s Jayhawks against the North Carolina Tar Heels; UNC won their second of five National Championships that year defeating Kansas 54-53 in triple overtime. This program is in remarkable condition, exhibiting only minor wear along the edges and corners. This is a stellar remembrance of the beginnings of March Madness.
