A plethora of Hall of Fame players, coaches and executives adorn the pages of this rare 1931 Official World Series Program. The day was October 5, 1931 and the venue was Shibe Park in Philadelphia where these two talent-laden teams took the field, series tied 1-1, to battle for the title of World Champion. Each team sent a future Hall of Famer to the hill, Lefty Grove for Philadelphia and Burleigh Grimes for St Louis. The Cardinals prevailed that day and went on to win the Series, 4 games to 3, just five days later. The program features pictures of fourteen Hall of Famers and even has a nice picture of President Herbert Hoover. This is the Philadelphia version World Series program that exhibits foxing along several pages, a 3 stress tear at the lower portion of the spine and a vertical crease down the center of the book where it was folded and placed into a back pocket. The centerfold line-up card has been scored and is detached from its staples.
