Description

The 1942 All-Star Game was held at the Polo Grounds in New York, the second and final Mid-Summer Classic that baseball cathedral would host. The game was decided in the first inning when the American League jumped out to a 3-0 lead and never looked back. The final tally was 3-1 with Spud Chandler and the junior circuit victorious. This magnificent program/scorecard is in fabulous NM condition with no marking or foxing on the publication. There is a vertical crease running the length of the program, but it is almost unnoticeable and does not, in any fashion, detract from the opulent beauty of this item. The pre-printed scorecard within is unscored and mint with the rare game day insert still present. The scorecard has the names of the starters and reserves and has Ted Williams, Joe DiMaggio, Mel Ott and Pee Wee Reese. The attendance at the 1942 game is among the lowest in All-Star history so the amount of programs/scorecards is considerably less. This incredible piece measures 6 x 9 and is among the nicest in the market.
